RELIEF
The Pakistani Students Association at UCLA acknowledges the great need for relief efforts in Pakistan. Over the years, PSA UCLA has initiated and engaged in numerous relief efforts.
Most recently, we immediately responded to the tragic South Asian earthquake. Within a week after the earthquake on Oct. 8, 2005, we accumulated $1000 from generous donations on Bruinwalk, the receipt of which can be found below. We then joined forces with other student organizations such as ISU and SSA to form the South Asian Advocacy Coalition, through which November 2005 became South Asian Earthquake Awareness Month. The combined efforts raised over $3000 for earthquake relief. In Spring of 2006, we coordinated our efforts with PSA UCI to present the 2006 Pakistani Culture Show, a fundraiser that allowed us to collect over $9,000 in one evening for the earthquake relief effort.
Our successful Pakistan relief efforts depend upon the vision and action of our board and members, and it is only with your continued support and involvement that the Pakistani youth can initiate and engage in helping our fellow Pakistanis.
